In Their Memory We Honor and Pray
Saturday, May 29th, 2010
On this Memorial Day weekend, we remember those who have served our country to ensure our freedom and liberty. Though I have not had the honor of serving in the military, I have been privileged to work with the civilian and military members of Naval Surface Warfare Center Crane, a southern Indiana federal research laboratory located just north of Loogootee with the sole mission of protecting the warfighter. From retrofitting Humvees to jamming the communications signals of the enemy, Crane engineers, scientists and technologists serve all branches of the military with 100% commitment; including sending civilian teams into Afghanistan and Iraq to ensure the best protection and tools to our service men and women on the front line. Congratulations Graduates!
Wednesday, May 26th, 2010
Congratulations 2010 Graduates! You have achieved one of life’s great accomplishments. Please allow me to share some of wisdom (well earned after 50 years) regarding your very bright future.
- Continue learning. Enroll in college, pursue a certificate/apprenticeship, or join our Armed Services. In any of these, you will learn much. Today’s world will be a knowledge economy. The more you know and more skills you have, the better your options.
- Push yourself to achieve. Given the choice between easy and hard; choose hard. Take physics, chemistry and calculus. Learn a new language. Study abroad. Pursue an internship. Each of these will open doors of learning and careers of high promise. There will never be a better time than now to “go for it”. (more…)

Winning the Triple Crown
Sunday, May 16th, 2010
Saturday night new and old supporters of the “Sue Ellspermann for State Rep” campaign gathered at OFS Brands’ Cool Springs Corporate Education Center for our signature Triple Crown Fundraiser Event. Barbeque ribs, homemade cobblers, entertainment by Lori Koch, Holiday World “Real County” singers and the Menke brothers in a setting that can only be called “amazing”, Cool Springs is spread over 500 acres with a world class “barn” able to hold hundreds. Thanks goes to Hank Menke who hosted the event, Pat and Will Koch for the wonderful support from Holiday World, the GOP county chairs who helped organize tables, and the many, many who came to provide both financial and visible support to our campaign. St. Meinrad works SMARTly!
Wednesday, May 12th, 2010
Tuesday night I had the pleasure of meeting with St. Meinrad Area Revitalization Team (SMART). SMART is not only the Chamber of Commerce, but so much more. It is a group of highly motivated citizens and business owners of all ages and backgrounds working towards the common good of the community. SMART is a community initiative which takes on various improvement projects and is organizing St. Meintrad’s sesquicentennial next June, among other projects. The effort was underwritten some five years ago by a small USDA Rural Development grant which provided them with a facilitator and process to think about the future of St. Meinrad.

What a Difference a Good Mother Makes!
Sunday, May 9th, 2010
We just returned from taking my mom and dad, Betty and Tom Boeglin, to lunch with my brother Tim and his family and my husband Jim and our girls. The years have long passed since my parents raised the six of us on Vienna Drive in Ferdinand. Mom was a great mother in all of the traditional ways: great cook, great housekeeper, our greatest fan, and also one who expected us to do what she asked us to do…or wait until our Dad came home. She used to call the four older kids, of which I was the 4th, “big horses” in our teenage years as we challenged her rules and expectations. We have since all graduated college, built careers and raised families. Throughout the years she has logged thousands of hours on the phone and in person listening to the drama and mundane parts of our lives…and always, with a nonjudgmental and loving ear. She now has 16 grandchildren who adore her in every way. (more…)

A Decisive Primary Victory: First Leg of the Triple Crown
Wednesday, May 5th, 2010
Dear Sue Ellspermann for State Rep Supporters:
I cannot thank you enough for your hard work and support in helping us achieve an 80% -20% margin Primary Victory on Tuesday. It is the first leg of a very important race to win the Indiana House of Representatives District 74 seat. I am not enthused so much about “winning” as I am about having the opportunity to impact the future of southwest Indiana. (more…)

How to Become a Republican …
Monday, May 3rd, 2010
“I know what it’s like to pull the Republican lever for the first time, because I used to be a Democrat myself and I can tell you it only hurts for a minute and then it feels just great.” – Ronald Reagan
People often ask how to become a Republican in Indiana.
It’s quick and easy. There is no form to full out. You don’t have to change your voter registration and there are no sworn statements.
All you have to do is ask for a Republican primary ballot at the polls when you go to vote on Tuesday May 4, from 6AM-6PM. (more…)
